Dr. Neil Gupta began his teaching career as a high school math teacher.  While teaching, he obtained a Masters Degree in Curriculum and then pursued a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.  While conducting his doctoral work, he worked as a High School Assistant Principal for one year. Dr. Gupta was promoted as the Director of Secondary Curriculum while completing his doctoral work.
After six years as the Director of Secondary Curriculum, Dr. Gupta became the Director of Teaching and Learning for another school district.  With his deep level of understanding on how assessments drive instruction, he then became the Director of Assessment and Programming.
In 2015, Dr. Gupta was hired to serve as the Director of Secondary Education for Worthington Schools.  In Worthington, Dr. Gupta oversees the secondary programs and leads the academic and safety work along with the building principals and district leaders.
Neil has presented at the state, national, and international level in the areas of leadership, assessments, and coaching.  Dr. Gupta has a passion for principal leadership, coaching leaders, and working with teams using effective strategies and tools, such as design thinking and organizational management for positive change.
Dr. Gupta serves on the Board of Directors for ASCD and the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators Association (OASSA).  Gupta is a member of ASCD, National Association of Secondary School Principals, American Middle Level Education Association, and OASSA.

Leading Transformational Schools

In order to provide rigorous and relevant experiences to meet the demands and needs of our students today, schools need to transform.  Transformational schools need transformational leaders. Join Dr. Gupta, as he shares insights and lessons learned on the research in key strategies to lead transformational schools.  Participants will walk away with time to reflect on their current practices as well as develop an action plan to implement for positive changes right away.    

At the end of the presentation, all participants will be provided with keys to lead transformational schools.  They will also be provided with time to reflect on their current practices and engage with other participants at the end to draft an action plan on take-aways.

Isolation vs. Integration: Authentic SEL in the Classroom

As schools build more SEL components into the classroom, it’s easy to fall into the trap of creating isolated activities versus integrating it into the overall classroom environment.  Join us for a dialogue on how to integrate authentic SEL components into your classroom and school environment - allowing us to be a little better today than we were yesterday and a little better tomorrow than we were today.   We will provide examples from various school leader positions as well as create opportunities for sharing! Now let's get out there and Teach Better!

Building Community to Learn Forward

Unlock the possibilities in developing a professional learning community committed to moving yourself and others forward in leadership, culture, and growth.  Engage with national leaders who will share the power of learning through connectivity using a variety of social media resources. Interact with leaders who utilized the power of a professional learning network to develop their leadership capacity and bring innovation and creativity to their local school communities.

At the end of the presentation:

  • Learners will engage in the collaborative practice of learning through social media tools to leverage learning.
  • Learners will create a “Connected Leadership” action plan that identifies steps to find other thought leaders, build understanding of social media resources, and engage with leaders around the world to deeper connections within a Professional Learning Network. 
  •  Learners will make connections among the Standards for Professional Learning, collective efficacy, social media resources, and Professional Learning Networks.  

Leading Through Design Thinking Principles for Success

Challenges in school design are a daily occurrence in all facets of the educational day.  Design Thinking is a process used by companies to meet these challenges using tools and strategies to engage your school community in each stage from learning to implementation.  This session will provide insights on the design thinking process as well as share practical tools, tips, and strategies in each phase.

At the end of the presentation:

  • Participants will understand the design thinking principles.
  • Participants will be able to identify key strategies to incorporate design thinking principles in their leadership roles.

Asking the Right Questions for Success

Asking the right questions is essential for successful.  Questioning is a thought-process with a need for intention to ensure there is a clear understanding of the problem at hand. Join Dr. Gupta as he shares insights and strategies to reflect on yourself, the situation, and others to navigate through the questions.  

At the end of the presentation:

  • Participants will understand the need for modeling and leading change through questioning techniques.
  • Participants will be able to identify key strategies to incorporate questioning techniques to support school culture, student learning, and staff success.

Coaching Up Leaders

What's the single, most important focus every leader should possess? To coach their leaders up! Invest time in reflecting on how you were coached up as a leader, as you gather strategies from other leader principles to build your plan to coach others up! 

This session will provide the sense of urgency and need to build leadership capacity in others. 

  • To identify the key characteristics in coaching. 
  • To analyze the four coaching strategies. 
  • To self reflect on a plan to seek coaching as well as coach others. 

 By the end of the session:  

  • Participants will be able to identify strategies to match various coaching situations;
  • Participants will be able to create a plan to be coached as well as coach other leaders.
